My name is Tressa. I love cooking and eating food. :o) Though not just any food:  Real food! As close to nature as you can get.

My journey to Hecka-Good Recipes in October 2008. I was the heaviest I had ever been. I was unhealthy, toxic and depressed. I hated my job, I ate out once or twice per day, and I was fat.

My father is a chiropractor and owns a Wellness Center. I heard that they were going to start doing this crazy diet where you only eat 500 calories a day. I thought, "That is insane! That is an anorexic diet." However, I knew that my dad would never have his patients to do anything that was unhealthy or that he hadn't thoroughly researched and found to be beneficial. I started to do my own research....I do that a lot....research things. I became more and more intrigued with this HCG diet. I learned that it wasn't unhealthy, if done correctly, and from all the findings it worked like magic to get rid of abnormal fat.

After hundreds or hours of research and study I decided to give it a try. I started November 1, 2008 on my first round of HCG. In the first 26 days I lost 23 lbs. I felt great! I had so much energy. After years of not being able to fall asleep, I finally was finally sleeping...and waking up feeling rested. It really was like magic!

In my research and working with my dad I soon discovered that if I wanted to maintain the weight I had lost and just be healthy in general, I needed to change my entire lifestyle. I could never go back to eating out, eating refined sugar, refined flours, packaged foods.....Frankenfoods, as I now like to call them. This is what led me to start this blog. I actually began running the HCG Weight Loss Program at my dad's wellness center and I wanted my clients to have access to real food recipes so that after they lost the weight, they could keep it off.

It has been quite the journey. I have lost a total of 70 lbs since then. I am still learning and progressing, and I am not perfect at eating real foods, but I am 99% better than I was when I weighed 220 lbs. I realize that I have to be vigilant about what I put into and on my body. I love my body and I love my life so I eat real food so that I have health, wellness, energy and vitality.
